Psoriatic Arthritis

Living with Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the joints and is associated  with psoriasis, a condition that causes scaly patches on the skin. The immune system mistakenly  attacks healthy joints and surrounding tissues, leading to inflammation, pain, and stiffness. While  many people with psoriatic arthritis also have psoriasis, joint symptoms may develop before,  during, or after skin symptoms appear.

People living with psoriatic arthritis may experience joint pain, stiffness, swelling, fatigue, and  reduced range of motion. Symptoms often affect the hands, feet, knees, ankles, or spine and may  worsen during periods of disease flare-ups. Over time, ongoing inflammation can lead to joint  damage if left untreated. These symptoms can make everyday activities such as walking,  exercising, working, or completing household tasks more difficult and may also affect emotional  well-being and overall quality of life. While many people find relief with nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologic  therapies, or other prescribed treatments, some continue to experience symptoms despite ongoing  care.

How Clinical Research Advances Treatment

Researchers are studying investigational medications—including oral therapies, injectable  biologics, and other targeted treatments—to determine whether they may help reduce  inflammation, relieve joint pain and stiffness, improve physical function, and better manage  psoriatic arthritis. These studies also help researchers better understand the long-term safety and  effectiveness of potential new treatment options for people living with PsA.

Study Costs & Compensation

If you qualify for a clinical research study, study-related care, study medication, and other  study-related procedures are typically provided at no cost. You may also be reimbursed or  compensated for time and travel.

Eligibility & Enrollment Process

Who May Be Eligible

Depending on the study, eligibility may be based on factors such as:

  • Having a diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA).
  • Be male or female adults (18+) for most available studies.

What Happens Next

Complete our online interest form or contact our research team to learn more about available  clinical research opportunities.

A member of our recruitment team may contact you to discuss your medical history, current  symptoms, previous treatments, and answer any questions you have about clinical research.

If there appears to be a study that may be appropriate, we’ll explain the study in more detail,  review the informed consent process, and answer your questions before you decide whether  participation is right for you.

If you choose to move forward, additional medical evaluations may be completed to determine  whether you meet the eligibility requirements for a specific clinical trial.
