Chronic Hand Eczema
Living with Chronic Hand EczemaÂ
Chronic Hand Eczema (CHE) is a long-lasting inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the hands. It can develop as a result of atopic dermatitis, frequent exposure to irritants or allergens, repeated hand washing, or other underlying skin conditions. People with chronic hand eczema often experience recurring symptoms that may persist for months or return despite treatment.Â
Common symptoms include dry, cracked skin, redness, itching, pain, swelling, blistering, or scaling on the hands and fingers. Because our hands are used throughout the day, these symptoms can make everyday activities such as working, cooking, cleaning, writing, or even washing your hands uncomfortable or difficult. For some individuals, visible skin changes and ongoing discomfort can also affect confidence, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. While many people find relief with moisturizers, topical medications, or other prescribed treatments, some continue to experience persistent symptoms despite ongoing care.Â

How Clinical Research Advances TreatmentÂ
Researchers are studying investigational medications—including topical therapies, oral medications, injectable biologics, and other targeted treatments—to determine whether they may help reduce inflammation, relieve itching and pain, promote skin healing, and better manageÂ
chronic hand eczema. These studies also help researchers better understand the long-term safety and effectiveness of potential new treatment options for people living with chronic hand eczema.Â
Â
Study Costs & CompensationÂ
If you qualify for a clinical research study, study-related care, study medication, and other study-related procedures are typically provided at no cost. You may also be reimbursed or compensated for time and travel.Â
Â
Eligibility & Enrollment ProcessÂ
Who May Be EligibleÂ
Depending on the study, eligibility may be based on factors such as:Â
✓ Having a diagnosis of Chronic Hand Eczema.Â
✓ Be male or female adults (18+) and adolescents in select pediatric studies.

What Happens NextÂ
Complete our online interest form or contact our research team to learn more about available clinical research opportunities.Â
A member of our recruitment team may contact you to discuss your medical history, current symptoms, previous treatments, and answer any questions you have about clinical research.Â
If there appears to be a study that may be appropriate, we’ll explain the study in more detail, review the informed consent process, and answer your questions before you decide whether participation is right for you.Â
If you choose to move forward, additional medical evaluations may be completed to determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements for a specific clinical trial.
